The aim of the project Innovative group of compostable packaging for contact with "Biotrem Novum" from renewable raw materials and the technology of their production is the modification of wheat bran packaging present on the market and produced by Aston Investment.
Introduction to the structure of disposable dishes produced in this technology (plates, bowls) of a biodegradable polymer or covering their surface with the same polymer is to increase the range of applications, market attractiveness and scale of production. The improved Biotrem vessels will be simultaneously fully biodegradable, and therefore comply with the requirements of environmental protection.
In the first stage, the project includes the selection of the optimal biodegradable material, compatible with the previously used wheat bran, thanks to which it will be possible to introduce improvements to the packaging and to provide them with compostability.
Another expected result is finding the right technique for introducing into the wheat bran the biopolymer material or its application to the surface of the vessel - the packaging, which will allow us to achieve useful values similar to the values of traditional plastic packaging.
For the selected technique of combining the biopolymer with bran, the design and construction of a special pilot line is planned, while the solutions created as a result of research and development will be implemented into production.
The project is financed by the National Center for Research and Development as part of a pilot project.
